This is Sheridan Marquardt - Celestial Cycles
Tuesday Nov 02, 2021
Tuesday Nov 02, 2021
On this episode I chatted with Celestial Cycles owner Sheridan Marquardt. Soon to be celebrating 20 years of Celestial Cycles. Next year is the year of the Tiger and as you will find out, the Tiger has a role and will be making its way into certain items of clothing in the store.
Celestial Cycles started as a way for owner Sheridan Marquardt to keep his love for cycling alive. Growing up in OKC, Sheridan, like most kids, rode his bike all over town, and he raced BMX throughout childhood. While at UCO, he discovered mountain biking, racing, and a life-long passion for bicycles.
In order to support his passion, he took a job at a bike shop, and then another one, until he decided to open his own business in 1999. Drawing inspiration from Celestial Seasonings, a tea company, of all places, that sponsored competitive women’s cycling in the 80’s, Sheridan founded Celestial Cycles. Originally founded as a frame-building business, Sheridan sought to emulate the commitment to and passion for cycling demonstrated by this unlikely namesake. Within a year he had his sights set on expanding his operations, and in 2002, the business transitioned to a full-service bike shop.
Now, nearly 20 years later, Celestial Cycles is an Oklahoma City institution, and Sheridan employs a full sales and service staff to ensure you get the best possible experience and quality support. From fixing flats to custom bike fits, from finding your first bike to restoring an old, faithful steed, we have experienced and knowledgeable staff on hand to help! The best part about Celestial Cycles—other than the personalized assistance you get from a shop of local cycling enthusiasts—is that it’s a one-stop shop.

This is Anthony Murray FMX with CoHost Blake Shipman
Friday Oct 29, 2021
Friday Oct 29, 2021
On this episode I chatted with FMX rider Anthony Murray. Anthony is a professional freestyle motocross athlete and a motocross social media influencer brought on by his notoriety in the MX world.
Anthony is currently residing in Stillwater, OK but learned how to ride at an early age behind the home he grew up in, in the hills of Canon City, CO. Early in his career Mr. Murray competed internationally in 5 different countries leading up to a big win at the XPilots comp by Monster Energy which thrust him into a top competitor spot in the sport of Motocross.
After receiving his first dirt bike at 11 years old, Anthony then spent most of his free time riding and experimenting with his new toy. His back yard was basically an oasis of rocks, dirt, and trails that helped him gain mad skills in a short period of time.
After a while, learning to take jumps and fly through the air with little effort is when his passion for dirt biking really took off. This led him to attend the Dew Tour as a spectator which then solidified his dream to become a professional freestyle rider.
Putting in some time on his bike, it only took him 2-years to successfully land his first backflip on dirt after visiting the Dew Tour. The excitement from that magical flip at age 16 set the catalyst for his future career that we see now. Moving to California soon after his high school graduation with nothing more than a suitcase, and a pickup that hauled his dirt bike he was ready.

Everything with the end goal of being an owner operator in commercial real estate. A story of persistence and commitment. There's so many life lessons in this episode its awesome! This is Mel Willis - Oklahoma Architectural Photographer
Tuesday Oct 05, 2021
Tuesday Oct 05, 2021
On this episode I chatted with Oklahoma Architectural Photographer Mel Willis about her journey through the years and how she fell into photography.
Mel's Bio:
"I discovered photography while in my hometown, Kansas City, shortly after graduating high school; I received my first 35mm camera as a graduation gift from my dad. In Oklahoma City, my current home, I honed my photography skills while studying visual communication in college. Landscapes, travel, events, family, portraiture … over the years I exposed myself to these and other photography styles, but none of them ever resonated with me.
As a lover of design, I accepted a job working for a local architecture and engineering firm, which first introduced me to the challenge and reward of capturing architecture and interiors. I traveled the United States and Canada to document the firm’s designs for use in marketing, branding, and award submissions. My responsibilities for the firm grew to include graphic design, visual branding, and web design, but those same expanded responsibilities took me further away from my one true calling. And so after nearly eleven years in the industry I made the difficult but confident decision to step out on my own and devote my time and energy to architectural photography.
When I’m not photographing, I spend my time hosting CreativeMornings/Oklahoma City where we encourage, cultivate, and grow a culture of creativity throughout our city. I am a lifelong traveler, and seek to balance my destinations between outdoor escapes and exploring some of the great architecture in communities and cities around the world."
